Good Food, Better Review

I really need to make sure that I continuously try new restaurants that pop up around my home-base. I was hungry the other day and decided to pop into viaSELFIE — and boy, I am so sorry I didn’t try it sooner!

viaSELFIE posits itself at a Contemporary California fusion restaurant in the heart of Burbank. While I agree that it is definitely a hidden gem, the restaurant lies upon 3 pillars it claims will “Fuel Your Soul!

Let’s go through them and my experience.

Atmosphere.

100%, yes. The restaurant has equal outdoor and indoor space, both of which provide a different but elegant means of dining. The indoor space is adorned with soft Edison bulb light fixtures, dark oak tables with velvet green midcentury modern furniture and fixtures. The floor to ceiling windows provide enough natural light that you could feel right at home, and the bar is absolutely amazing. It’s small, but does the trick and serves in both is functionality and beauty.

The outdoor space is slightly similar with tables adorned with crisp white table cloths and a back house patio type setting.

Your pick: veranda outdoor “bask-in-the-sun” dining or comfortable indoor boho eats — either way, you’ll be comfortable and in killer atmosphere!

Quality.

Long story short, my food was delicious. First off, we were greeted with printed menus of different colors, which caught me off guard, but quickly realized that the menu changes based on the quality and availability of Californian ingredients, so we’re looking past the stack of colorful printer paper.

The menu was vast from burgers, pizza, and salads, to sandwiches. I appreciated the “for the table” options which supports the “gather over food and drinks” aim of this establishment.

We ordered the burrata pizza and Mediterranean burger. The pizza was served on a thick acacia pizza paddle, which I loved. You got huge slices of perfectly cooked thin crust pizza with globs of mozzarella, burrata, and aromatic slices of basil. Not too oily and definitely not dry, the pizza was great.

The Mediterranean burger was a beautiful sight. Black burger bun, freshly cooked petite tomato medley, a Greek-inspired spread and a succulent looking patty — this burger was definitely Instagram worthy! It was served with a side of seasoned fries and a very well made garlic tzatziki dip, ketchup and horseradish. I mean look at it!

Nothing looked contrived, tasted inauthentic, or felt replicated. The food was delicious, well portioned, well priced, served in a timely manner, and plated meaningfully.

Delight.

I’m so delighted by this place and I simply cannot wait to return! I was pleasantly surprised that my delicious food was accompanied by a live violinist! A Thursday night at 6:00pm was the perfect cap to Friday Jr. I really felt that the experience at viaSELFIE highlighted the variety of cultures they are aiming to showcase — after all, cultural fusion is what Californian food really is.

The selfie wall is a great touch if you actually want to instagram your experiences, but I never once felt as if this restaurant would be a spot filled with influencers or social media enthusiasts — which is actually what I love about it.

I highly recommend you dine at viaSELFIE if you happen to be in Burbank. While this neighborhood is filled with dozens of delicious eats, this restaurant provides the right atmosphere to craft an extremely pleasant and delicious dining experience.

Mes compliments au chef!
